Anesthesia is one of the most important aspects of any surgical procedure. We choose the best anesthetic protocol available in veterinary medicine today, and will continue to offer the safest protocol we can. We choose Sevoflurane. Sevoflurane (Sevo) has been shown to be less of a respiratory depressant than Isoflurane (Iso). Sevo’s low blood:gas solubility and greater range of vaporizer settings gives us rapid, precise control of anesthesia during your pet’s procedure. Sevo provides smoother, more rapid inductions and recoveries. We are one of very few hospitals in the valley who are using Sevo for 100% of our procedures. It continues to be more expensive, because of it’s superiority. But, Sevo is what we want for our own pets and we feel it’s what our clients want for their own as well. It is the safest choice! Be sure that you always know what anesthesia protocol your pet is going under, and be sure that it is Sevo. It may add a little to the cost of your procedure, but the added safety is worth every penny.

While a patient is under anesthesia, he or she will be monitored in much the same way as a human undergoing anesthesia would be. This monitoring includes listening to your pet’s heart and lungs, visually assessing your pet’s reflexes, and using equipment to monitor your pet’s blood pressure, level of blood oxygen, and temperature. Your pet will also be monitored using an ECG machine. Trained technicians act alongside veterinarians to ensure that your pet’s procedure goes smoothly.
