Laboratory services are part and parcel of any sort of healthcare, whether for humans or animals. They are used to assess samples of bodily fluids to determine specific information about the patient in question and can be used to identify a wide range of different health issues including infectious disease, parasite infections and chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and more. As such, laboratory services are considered to be an invaluable diagnostic tool.

Our Laboratory Services

We know how frustrating it can be to have to wait for laboratory tests to be performed. Samples have to be sent off, analyzed and results returned, and this can take the time that you might not want to wait if you are concerned that something is seriously wrong with your pet. There is also a slight risk of samples going missing somewhere between being taken and reaching the laboratory. We try to eliminate diagnostic delays by performing as many different tests as we can at our own, in-house laboratory which is staffed by highly qualified pathologists and laboratory scientists. This allows us to take the sample and check it on site and we can perform diagnostic testing on a variety of bodily fluids including:

Hematology: which checks for blood disorders such as anemia, infection, hemophilia, blood-clotting disorders, and leukemia.

Blood chemistry
: assess how well your pet’s organs are working.

Blood gases: a test used to measure how much oxygen and carbon dioxide are in your blood.

Urinalysis: a check of a sample of your pet’s urine to determine the presence of disease, certain drugs, etc.

Serology: a blood test that looks for antibodies in your pet’s blood that are formed in response to an infection.

Those samples that cannot be analyzed in-house will be sent off to our outside laboratory services where they will be swiftly evaluated, and reliable, accurate results sent to our offices as soon as possible.
