Judy B. Hammerich

Dr. Judy Hammerich was born in Aspen, Colorado. Cool fact, her family helped homestead both Aspen and Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She spent a lot of time at her aunt and uncle’s ranch, following her older cousin around, who was a vet. This is what started her down the path to her own career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Hammerich attended Colorado State University (CSU), receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in both Microbiology and Biological Sciences in 1997. She took some time off to work as a microbiologist at a local laboratory, helping with infectious disease control at local dairies, and testing new antibiotics coming to market. She graduated from CSU’s veterinary program in 2001. Her first year after graduation was spent in a small town in Colorado, working on many different animals, including but not limited to: horses, cattle, cats, dogs, pocket pets and birds. After suffering a back injury, her Arizona friends convinced her to move to AZ, which she did in the fall of 2002, now only working with cats and dogs.

Dr. Hammerich joined Animal Medical Center of Deer Valley in July 2023, but has been a vet for over 23 years. She is passionate about educating people on the best care for their pets. She understands the importance of pets in our lives, and vice versa; fostering the human animal bond is paramount for any primary care veterinarian. Her interests include preventative care, nutrition, infectious disease, dermatology and geriatric care for both cats and dogs.

When not at work, Dr. Hammerich can be found at home with her two cats and significant other. She loves crafting, traveling, karaoke, and anything Halloween related.
